Your manual lesson questions
Can I start manual lessons without knowing how gears work?
Yes. You do not need previous driving experience. Lessons can introduce the controls, clutch and gears step by step, with practice in suitable conditions before progressing to more demanding roads.
What can I drive after passing a manual car test?
A full manual car licence allows you to drive manual and automatic cars, subject to any other restrictions on your licence. If you already hold an automatic-only licence and want to learn manual, tell us when enquiring so we can discuss the right starting point.
Can I switch from manual to automatic lessons?
You can ask about changing gearbox. Contact NextPass before changing your booking so we can check instructor availability and agree any changes with you. A change of instructor or timetable is not automatic. An automatic-only licence does not permit you to drive a manual car.
